Central Bank of Oman is seeking to recruit Omani competent, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic candidate for the following position.
The Associate/Research Analyst provides support analysis, assessment, and recommendations for macro modelling. his role includes assisting the modelling team in designing economic models and conducting statistical and econometric analyses, capable of addressing related problems. The position – also involve the task of fundamental analysis and collaboration with department analysts to enhance forecasting and scenario analysis at CBO.
Roles And Responsibilities:
Assist in model development and expansion at CBO, integration of advanced statistics and mathematics into the model that can simultaneously investigate different scenarios which would serve the long-term objectives of economic modelling.
Assist the development of the models and integrate advanced statistical tools and mathematics into the model that can simultaneously investigate different scenarios to achieve the long-term objectives of economic modelling development.
Assist in testing and re-estimating the existing model equations and select the most appropriate specification for the country that better reflects the behavior of macroeconomic variables
collect, consolidate, timely update- and monitor macroeconomic data to guide CBO policies for evidence-based decision making
Support the review of research in progress under Analysis and Economic Department’s respective components.
Assure the quality of economic modelling tools used within the Financial Stability Sector.
Assist the modelling team in providing timely assessment of specific policies relevant to CBO’s objectives, with lead experts
Complete any other task as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (economics, statistics, finance and math),
Master’s degree in other relevant fields
Strong analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative) and proven track record of conducting independent policy-relevant research, translating theory into practical applications, and adapting professional knowledge and technical skills to analyze, diagnose and propose solutions to policy issues and challenges.
Strong understanding of the economic linkages and the developments in the Financial Sector.
Familiarity with modelling and empirical techniques.
Demonstrated ability to organize and conduct high-quality original research projects and synthesize complex information and issues, including concrete cases and sectors, for discussion at the intergovernmental level.
Strong communication, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills; excellent report writing abilities required.
Ability to work as a part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft office suite; and other statistical software, EViews, Stata etc.
Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English.
· 1 year of relevant exposure in modelling and forecasting
