School psychologist helps children and students of all educational levels manage social, emotional, behavioral, and learning problems.
School psychologist designs and implements interventions for a wide spectrum of difficulties children may face, for example, performance anxiety, learning difficulties, or anger management issues. Emphasizing on students’ personal and social strengths, encourage wellbeing and a healthier mindset. In collaboration with educational staff, school psychologist create and implement prevention programs to tackle common school problems, such as dropping out and bullying.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
1. Design mental-health intervention and prevention programs
2. Implement counseling and educational methods
3. Collaborate with educational staff to create coordinated plans
4. Evaluate and report on student progress
5. Set learning goals based on each student’s emotional, cognitive, and social strengths
6. Research new methods to improve children’s wellbeing
7. Guide parents in facilitating children’s progress conduct assessment of student needs
8. Promote regular school attendance
9. Provide individual counseling
10. Self-esteem
11. Anger management
12. Impulse control
13. Substance abuse prevention
14. Provide crisis intervention services
15. Participate in the evaluation of special education placements
16. Participate in the development of behavioral modification plans, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and Supportive Intervention Plans (SIP)
17. Coordination of services with community agencies
18. Coordination of services with other disciplines within the school
19. Participate in transition planning for students
20. Coordinate dropout prevention programs
21. Report suspected child abuse/neglect
22. Promote parental involvement in school conferences
23. Promote parental responsibility for regular school attendance
24. Conduct family needs assessments
25. Substance abuse awareness
26. Special needs children
27. Child abuse prevention
28. Appropriate discipline
29. Assist families with the interpretation of school policies and procedures

The above list of duties and responsibilities is not comprehensive and the Supervisor is expected to cooperate with the Director and the school administration in order to make sure that the interests of the school and its students are served in the most effective and professional manner.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Education:
– Masters’ Degree in Psychology.
Experience:
– Minimum 3 years of experience working in a school environment is desirable, specifically working with students.
– Computer Literate: able to use word processing, spreadsheets and school software.
– Bilingual: English is essential and Arabic with knowledge of local dialect is desirable.

– Proven experience as a school psychologist in a diverse educational setting
– Knowledge of various methods to prevent or treat mental-health problems and other difficulties
– Effective communication and counselling skills

– Able to communicate effectively with children and school community.
