Mechanical Maintenance Manager Responsibility

Responsible to ensure full compliance with all JOMEL and legislative Health & Safety and Environmental requirements, including integrated management system.
Maintain a culture of continuous improvement with respect to Health, Safety and the Environment and exploit any discovered improvement potential.
Ensure that the plant is maintained in a manner that safeguards plant integrity and reliability, maximizes asset lifetime and efficiency, and minimizes cost.

Continually monitor the status of issues that affect risk to plant operations, identifying and prioritizing the required actions, and driving forward the solutions.
Direct and monitor the planning and prioritization of mechanical maintenance of the plant, to ensure high availability
Co-ordinate in conjunction with the Operations department the integration of daily maintenance activities setting priorities on a daily basis and identify any operational concerns for long term planning.

Propose modifications that can improve the plant performance and availability or reduce operation and maintenance cost.
Ensure the timely supply of all spares, consumables, tools and external resources in co-ordination with purchase department to ensure high availability and reliability of the plant.

Ensure that maintenance of the plant is carried out in a disciplined and consistent manner based on approved Work Instructions that have been developed, reviewed and revised by the joint input of both Engineering and Maintenance personnel (as applicable).
Periodically review and update preventive maintenance programs in SAP and ensure that all maintenance activities are routed through the system.
Improve and update the business management and maintenance procedures relevant to the department
Monitor the activities of contractors that have an influence or may have an influence on running plant, providing guidelines for the Maintenance personnel to control these activities.
Provide full support to the Operations especially when major disruptions occur, to promptly, safely and securely normalize the situation.
Carry out periodic reviews of mechanical maintenance department, proposing and justifying any changes necessary to maintain appropriate staffing levels and organizational effectiveness.

Regularly assess staff competencies and identify any required actions to be taken.
Check for training requirement of the team and organize the required training
Provide each team member with clear objectives and responsibilities and follow up the team performance and provide KPIs
Promote team work and ensure annual assessment is done for each team member

Prepare an annual budget in accordance with the established corporate framework and the guidance of the Chief Production Officer
Regularly monitor expenditure to ensure adherence to the established budget or acceptable justification of necessary departures from it.

Reporting Line-The position reports to Chief Production Officer.
Qualification

Engineering Degree in Mechanical

Experience

10 years in Power Industry
