Bring the most value to Q-Chem by ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations through Process Optimization and Process Improvement Efforts of the Mesaieed Facility. This position’s primary purpose is to identify and develop process improvement opportunities that will bring value to Q-Chem.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Process Optimization Engineering

Participate, provide inputs, evaluate recommendation from PHA and investigations and assist the process to ensure their timely implementation and meeting safety standards. Follow up on HAZOP action closeout.
Understand and provide support to Q-Safe process and participate actively in the process, attendance to Safety Meetings and reliability walkthrough.
Complete outstanding reliability and safety issues related to equipment.
Perform detailed engineering analysis and studies when required.
Perform predictive modelling simulations to optimize process performance and reliability.
Support ERG Group for Reliability and Mechanical Integrity improvement initiative’s such as RBI Program and DRM.
Propose and oversee the various process optimization solutions from the conceptual to the design phase (including process simulations as and when required) to ensure they are fit for purpose for optimum plant operations.
Ensure the application of leading market trends and practices by the Process Engineering team during the study phase of new concepts and processes.
Perform conceptual engineering services for the Assets, Process Studies (DBN, Brownfield and Greenfield) to increase production as applicable.
Participate in long-term studies to improve & enhance plant performance and to resolve major plant problems.
Study/evaluate new technologies for long term plant improvements with necessary follow-up with vendors.
Provide process support to benchmarking and technology exchange data collection and presentation efforts.
Lead development of Gap Closure Plans for identified and prioritized gaps from Solomon/Townsend
Reports to improve Process Units Performance.
Consider and evaluate plant economics including cost of chemicals, catalyst, feed & product pricing and develops options for optimum plant operation.
Establish synergy and partnership with Qatar University, QP, R&D centers, vendors and others to assess new growth opportunities.
Apply Value Improving Practices (VIPs) and Best Practices (BPs) on ideas and projects.
Ensuring Processes, Standards and Guidelines are understood, applied effectively.
Participate in the in-house knowledge sharing initiative by attendance and presenting relevant topics.
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes, procedures, and practices taking into account ‘international leading practices’, in order to meet business requirements and improve operational effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with all Section’s policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a safe and consistent manner.
Ensure implementation of policies, procedures, systems and controls in compliance with Q-Chem’s standards and regulatory requirements.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and develop others and own ideas. Seek and expand on original ideas, enhance others ideas and contribute own ideas about issues at hand.
Challenge the status quo and proposes new ideas for strengthening safety, reliability, and process performance.
Quality, Health, Security, Safety and Environment

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls across the Department to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high quality products/services.
Lead engineering efforts to reduce environmental impact.
Lead engineering efforts to eliminate Process Safety and Personal Safety Events through engineering design.
Reporting

Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the Department and Customer requirements.
Ensure that routine and ad-hoc Process Engineering reports are prepared in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner to meet business reporting requirements and standards and provide insight to facilitate sound decision-making.
Ensure key Process Engineering, Energy, and Efficiency Metrics are monitored, measured, and reviewed with required actions taken on a routine basis in order to ensure Technical Department and Q-Chem goals are achieved.
Report to the Process Engineering Superintendent on the progress of activities against the annual business plans, opportunities, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required, to make an informed decision.
Keep record of units’ documentations history (especially new projects and developments) by regularly updating the Process Engineering E-Filing Folder.
Qatarization

Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

Required : Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

Preferred : Master Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Experience

Required : Total of 7-10 years of experience in Petrochemicals Industry in

Process Engineering.

Preferred : Experience in Ethylene and Polyethylene manufacturing.

HSYS Modelling for design
Advanced Process Control System (linear and nonlinear) design
High level of Process engineering design and feasibility study
Microsoft Office Applications
Simulation Tool – HSYS/ASPEN/Pro II
Basic proficiency in Conversant with International Standards
Languages

Required : English- proficient

Preferred : Arabic- working knowledge
