Main Objectives
Manager Internal Audit is responsible for enhancing and protecting organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight. Manager Internal Audit provides reasonable assurance on the effectiveness and efficiency of the company’s internal controls, risk management, and governance processes through leading the activities of the assigned employees, preparing and presenting to top management and the Audit and Risk Committee of the board reports on the major issues and recommended rectification actions.
The Manager Internal Audit is a business partner that provides the company’s leadership the assurance and consultancy services; helping the business unit in setting up better processes and enhanced policies and procedures.
Main Duties
o Participate in the Internal Audit’s annual company-wide risk assessment by providing input in the risk assessment process to develop the annual audit plan and ensure the plan is responsive to and aligned with the risk profile of the organization.
o Periodically review the audit universe and propose enhancements and changes to the Senior Manager Internal Audit.
o Oversee the execution of audits defined in the assigned audit plan ensuring the highest level of service quality and client satisfaction.
o Provide reasonable assurance over the financial and operational integrity of internal controls within BAS and continuously consider opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the business.
o Ensure that the internal audit work is being performed in accordance with established professional standards and remain abreast of emerging trends and best practices that can be incorporated into the function.
o Conduct risk assessments for each audit unit and develop Risk/Control Matrixes taking into consideration recognized frameworks such as COSO ERM for Risk Management and COSO Internal Control framework for the control procedures.
o Evaluate the inherent risk in the processes that are under the audit review taking into consideration the likelihood and impact of risk elements.
o Build up risk inventories/registers for each auditable unit. Frequently review the registers for updates and amendments based on changes in the auditable unit and any emerging risks.
o Plan, create, and execute detailed risk-based audit programs for Financial, Operation, and Compliance audits. This consists of planning the audit tests, defining audit procedures to be carried out, including the use of established sampling techniques, and identifying key control points to evaluate possible exposure to risk or financial loss.
o Include analytical and significant information related to the auditable unit in the audit report by utilizing analytical techniques and statistics.
o Supervise and direct the activities of assigned Internal Auditors and delegate the responsibilities in accordance with the audit program to the team.
o Guides subordinates in performance of Audit activities. Includes discussing and establishing scope, examining and approving specific audit steps to be carried out, reviewing the results of audit steps, counsels and guides auditors on difficult matters, guides subordinates in evaluating of overall results of audit activities and reviews draft reports prepared by them.
o Evaluate the adequacy of internal control, risk management and governance processes and recommend to Management and the Audit and Risk Committee of the board enhancements to those processes.
o Identify the implications of the issues identified during the audit and the consequences of not rectifying the issues.
o Prepare and review audit reports. This includes preparing draft report summarizing the observations and exceptions, discussing with auditees’ management to agree upon the rectification actions. Final report is discussed with Senior Manager Internal Audit prior to issuance.
o Develops and conducts oral or written presentations to management during and at the conclusion of the audit exercises. If required recommends corrective action to improve the situation and reduce cost.
o Prepare the internal audit pack for the submission to the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board. Summarizing the observations, the internal audit recommendations and the rectification action plan agreed with Management.
o Lead and conduct follow up audits with the responsible managers as required and report the status to Senior Manager Internal Audit, CEO and the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board.
o Provide consulting and advisory services as approved by the Internal Audit Charter, beyond internal auditing assurance services to assist management in meeting its objectives.
o Conduct cost optimization / improvements reviews when necessary.
o Monitors the implementations of systems and internal controls with particular emphasis on the prevention of fraud or other misappropriation of Company’s assets.
o Proposes initiation of special investigation arising out of the audit findings.
o Implement the quality assurance and improvement program in line with the IPPF and assign responsibilities to the Internal Auditors.
o Lead the internal quality assessment through ongoing monitoring and review of different processes within the department and by periodically conducting a self-assessment in line with the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program requirements.
o Represents the department in a professional mature manner at all times with a strong emphasis on communication.
o Keeps up to date with local & international development in Internal Audit.
o Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned, such as special financial or operational assignments, revising and developing audit programs, ensuring a safe work environment is maintained, assisting in the rollout of the Internal Audit & Quality System Strategic Direction plan, and developing business-wide risk and process enhancement awareness.
o Comply with the Company and Airport authorities’ health, safety, and security regulations.
o Contribute to a strong relationship with management and staff.
o Lead or facilitate meetings to discuss audit findings with top levels of management.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
o University graduate in a related discipline.
o Professional qualification (e.g. CPA).
Experience:
10+ years experience in Audit work.
Other Essential Requirements:
o Knowledge of the Internal Audit International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
o High level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
o High level of the technical audit, project management, risk & quality skills.
o Strong influencing, facilitation, communication, analytical skills & report writing abilities.
