Port of Duqm Company SAOC
Role Objective
To develop, establish, and update/maintain business plans, initiatives, and marketing strategies to promote the port of Duqm and meet organizational goals; chart the course for the future growth of the company; work with internal departments to develop strategies; establish, grow, and maintain client networks for activities such as leasing company’s land at favorable terms; follow the commercial process with prospective customers in close cooperation with the other members of the team.
Strategic:
1. Assist Commercial Director in developing marketing strategy that contains the company’s value proposition in order to attract prospective customers to the port of Duqm.
2. Research, identify, analyze, and execute new business initiatives based on the company’s growth and technological changes by coordinating with the management in order to add to PODC’s vision of the future.
Financial:
3. Assist Commercial Director in allocating budgets in implementing Business Development Strategies.
Operational:
4. Collect business data and the requirements of the customer to create a business plan that gives a competitive edge in the industry to achieving the company’s goals.
5. Review, develop, and update the business plan by according to the company’s growth and changes; hold brainstorming sessions with the management and teams to synergize knowledge and ideas.
6. Evaluate strategy and collaborate with internal departments in order to execute business plans.
7. Gauge customer satisfaction and team members’ progress/success in achieving the set goals.
8. Creating an atmosphere which allows team members to brainstorm in order to develop innovative ideas/concepts on how to best do the business.
9. Implement and develop strong business relationships with stakeholders and industry personnel through direct meetings.
10. Research the market trends, analyze the present and future cargo flows in the Middle East region, and identify opportunities to create demand in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm.
11. Promote the Special Economic Zone in Duqm to attract domestic and international customers in all its offerings, subsequently contributing to the business development of the company.
12. Determine the resources, the steps and timelines for specific tasks in order to create an action plan for approaching new customers in logistics, industrial land, and liquid bulk & petrochemical development area.
13. Measure, compare, and track progress by performing benchmark studies and perform cost calculations to analyze logistical streams.
14. Drive commercial negotiations with customers by explaining the importance of stakes and relations and exploring positions and interests of all the parties.
15. Create proposals, plans, reports and engaging presentations to the Commercial Director to provide timely updates and innovative ideas.
16. Develop new connections and business opportunities by maintaining and expanding the client network by increasing collaboration and referrals, and attending conferences.
17. Negotiate and conclude contracts (Land Reservation Agreements and Land Lease Agreements) with future tenants.
18. Liaise with all internal departments on the set up and follow up of the modalities of the commercial contracts;
19. Review contracts and documentation and, if required, liaise with Commercial Director to assess the legal implication to the contracts committed to by the company that requires the attention of the executive management.
20. Plan and perform business travels within and outside the country as and when necessary to attend meetings, international conferences, etc.
21. Ensure the dispatch of invoices are as per the agreements.
22. Complete any reasonable tasks assigned from time to time by the Commercial Director or management.
People Development:
23. Lead department contribution to Port of Duqm’s Omanization targets through the setting of goals/KPIs in relation to the hiring and development of Omani Nationals into the workforce.
24. Embrace and drive continuous Human Capital improvements through business driven initiatives or as directed by Port of Duqm Human Resources Department.
25. Complete the necessary tasks as requested by Management/Directors on people development areas.
Education:
– Bachelor degree in Marketing, Business Development, Commercial or Management or as per the Minimum Qualifications and Experiences matrix in PODC.
Experience:
– Proven track record (minimum 10 years) in sales and marketing in relevant fields such as ports, real estate, logistics and general trade and industry or as per the Minimum Qualifications and Experiences matrix in PODC.
Business Understanding:
– This position requires high level of business understanding.
