Job Summary:
The GL Accountant’s responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, supporting statutory audits and tax filings. The ideal candidate has an experience in Trading environment, in accounting, a good general ERP knowledge and ensures books are accurate and timely, as well as in compliance with IFRS
This position is also involved in other related accounting and reporting projects. The GL Accountant provides day-to-day support to company based in Saudi Arabia management and various functions and geographies within the companies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare monthly GL activities, journals, and accruals, perform balance sheet reconciliation and analytical reviews.
Participate to the monthly, quarterly, and yearly IFRS close process.
Perform accounting analysis for cash accruals, account payables, account receivables, reconciliations and foreign exchange.
Provide appropriate accounting information to customers when needed.
Assist various departments in accounting issues and queries.
Analyze and perform foreign currency exchanges.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and revenue accounts.
Review financial reports to identify and explain variances.
Follow documentation retention policy to maintain accounting files.
Prepare cash flow statements and resolve outstanding balancing issues.
Perform accounting analyses and reporting to support decision-making purposes.
Assist with Statutory Financial Statements preparation as well as direct tax filings and underlying information for VAT returns payment and filing.
Active support in internal and external audit activities and help with timely remediation of any findings or follow up items.
Ensure compliance with the company policies and other control procedures.
Perform ad hoc cross functional projects as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant financial experience in a multinational environment with at least 2 years in similar role.
Good knowledge of Saudi Arabia statutory requirements and IFRS/SOCPA as well as direct and indirect tax
Experience working in a Trading.
Advanced Excel skills and strong general understanding of ERP systems required
Must be able to meet the deadline for month-end close and year-end close.
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Driven, able to work independently in an efficient manner and keen to take on new responsibilities
Pro-active, team player oriented, reliable, and hands-on approach
Willingness and ability to recognize and adapt to changing business requirements
Fluent in Arabic and English, both verbal and written
Education
Bachelor of Accounting degree or equivalent required.
