The Gulf News Social Media Desk is looking for an Assistant Social Media Editor who is excited to be part of a close-knit, highly involved and committed team that lives and breathes social networking channels.
The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of social media channels, the type of content that delivers optimal engagement and traffic, news consumption patterns, changing social algorithms, and the demographics of each channel.
The person also needs to have good narrative skills, community connections, social media video content creation ability, with exceptional skill at producing clear, conversational writing.
An editor with a good understanding on how to leverage social media for a new media house is the key requirement.
We hope to attract creative candidates who have ideas for making the Social Media Desk an even stronger team.
Requirements
At least three to five years writing and editing experience at a top-tier news organization, with the ability to perform at a high level under pressure and deadlines.
Expertise on a wide range of topics that work on social media is highly desired.
A deep understanding of social media channels, its demographics, traffic generators and algorithms is required.
A highly capable and empathetic team member with great communication and organizational skills, capable of being part of an extremely hardworking team.
