Job Purpose:

The Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

Strategy, Planning and Management

• Participate in ongoing strategic planning with the leadership team. Assist with due diligence and create projections with different scenarios on growth opportunities as needed.

• Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.

• Provide insight and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization, subsidiaries, and sister companies.

• Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency

• Communicate, engage, and interact with the board of directors, the CEO, and other executives.

• Preparation of the yearly financial statements, including footnotes, is one of the primary responsibilities, along with all major audit schedules.

• Select and engage consultants, auditors, and investors.

• Monitors the company’s internal control environment to ensure compliance.

• Recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating department staff.

• Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.

• Serve as an active member of the Executive Committee and any other committee formed as recommended by the CEO

• Interact with and bring the department into line with the Board of Directors’ plans, initiatives and recommendations

• Implement and recommend modifications to policies, procedures, and processes related to financial accounts and other associated matters.

• Remain current on audit best practices as well as local laws regarding company operations.

Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting

Preparation of monthly financial reporting package to include a balance sheet, income statement,

Work in process, job costing schedules, variance to budget, cash flow forecast, break-even analysis, and backlog. • Prepare and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.

• Develop and maintain a monthly operating budget and an annual company operating budget.

• Identify, develop and execute analysis/feasibility of business initiatives and/ or new service offerings

• Review and recommend adjustments to construction contracts with clients and vendors.

• Reviews the organization’s benefit offerings and advises management on recommendations for changes (in coordination with HR).

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations

• Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure timely settlements based on the cash flow of the organization, keeping relevant contract terms in mind.

• Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems

• Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements.

• Monitors, controls, and ensure compliance with Zakat and all tax-related procedures and requirements

• Maintain accurate records based on a percentage of completed construction contracts and ensure revenue is recognized properly. • Oversight of project accounting to ensure the accuracy of cost ledgers

• Monitors the capital expenditures and asset deployment activities and allocation of costs associated with these expenditures.

• Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies

• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage the preparation and support of all external audits. • Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.

Financial Management

• Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.

• Oversee cash, investments and asset management area.

• Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks

• Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.

• Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets. • Assist in the preparation of internal variance reports to track budget vs. actual on each construction project. • Standardize procedures around monitoring construction project forecasting, tracking buyouts, contingency usage, subcontracts, and delay days in coordination with relevant departments.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2. CPA required. Experience: 1. 15+ years total experience in accounting or finance experience. 2. 5+ years in the Construction industry (experience in the construction industry required). 3. 5+ years experience as CFO.

Skills:

1. Strong familiarity with local accounting standards

. 2. Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues

. 3. Solid background coordinating with IT to develop ERP systems (Oracle JDE, SAP, or equivalent)

. 4. Experience leading cross-functional teams.

5. Strong, collaborative leader with the ability to identify strong employees and mentor, develop, & create opportunities for career growth.

6. Outstanding communication and presentation skills.

7. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task, problem solve, self-direct, manage a complex workload, meet deadlines, and communicate efficiently and effectively.
