Job Description:
Pharmacist
Duties And Responsibilities:
Compounds, fills and dispenses medicines and other pharmaceutical products in order to fill written prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists and other authorized personnel.
Reviews written prescriptions to ensure correct prescribing (e.g.: correct dosages, route of administration, dosage frequency, etc.).
Fills prescriptions from bulk stock or measures and mixes ingredients via accepted technique to produce finished sterile or non-sterile products.
Fills containers (as required) as prescriptions specifications, then prepare, writes print a computerized labels to be affixed to containers showing identification data of the drug, patient (if any) and directions for use.
Maintains effective and secure pharmacy stock management.
Participates to maintain pharmacy areas and stocks tied and clean.
Dispenses pharmaceuticals for in-patient, out*patient and other hospital areas.
Participates in all pharmacy services and activities as per work schedules and work assignment.
Supervises Pharmacy Technicians and Aides
Provides accurate and updated drug information to pharmacy customers when appropriate
Participates in continuing education and training activities within the Pharmacy Department and other hospital areas as appropriate
Represent Pharmacy department in hospital committees as per assignments
Participates in preparing and typing different work reports and statistics of the Pharmacy department as required.
Performs other related work duties as required
Assures implementing of all departmental and hospital policies while performing duties.
