Head of Legal Compliance Jobs in Saudi Arabia
GMS are currently seeking an experienced Saudi National to join a highly prestigious automotive & mobility start-up in Riyadh:
Role Overview:
Provide overall vision, direction, and collaborative leadership of the investment company’s legal and compliance initiatives
Act as a close advisor to senior management of the investment company
regarding legal risks and compliance matters
Create, implement and enforce policies and procedures that are required for the investment company to operate in accordance with the local and regional laws and regulations (with the focus on KSA and MENA region)
Track relevant legislation and regulations that may affect the investment company’s operation and advise the business in relation thereto
Establish and update compliance and Code of Conduct manuals, and collaborate with various departments to create a culture of compliance including organizing regular compliance trainings
Advise on general business law issues and managing legal issues including corporate matters, procurement, HR, health and safety, and governance
Draft and negotiate simple and complex contracts related to the company’s operations
Report back to business functions on current legal risk and compliance performance, highlighting or escalating areas of concern, and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization
Review and update company’s policies and procedures on an annual basis together with various stakeholders and departments including CEO, CIO, Investment teams and Finance
Review any publications of the investment company including marketing materials, presentations and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Act as the Complaints Handling Officer concerning for Whistleblowing or all complaints made against the organization, its member s and/or its staff/or business partners and to be reported to the CEO of the company and organize related internal investigations
Requirements:
Approximately 4 6 years of experience either at a recognized law firm
Working experience in the Middle East is highly preferred
Saudi Nationality is essential
Advanced knowledge of the local and regional laws and regulations (e.g., KSA and MENA regional laws and regulations)
Ability to work as a legal generalist, handling most day to day matters including general contracting, labor and employment, litigation supervision, and the like
Proven ability to manage an in house legal function, including effectively managing outside counsel and working with non lawyers in a collaborative environment
Strong negotiating and reporting skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills
Interest in the sectors / industries of automotive and mobility is a plus
A J.D. from a leading law school is preferred
