1. To work according to the Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker (with facilitation) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:

– The assessment of care and health education needs;

– The development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care including discharge planning for each patient.

– Perform within the nursing scope of service

– Provides appropriate teaching methods to patient/family education

2. To gain experience and skill

– Clinical practice

– Facilitation and teaching

– Management (as appropriate)

– advocate to patient and family

3. To work in accordance with the MEH Nursing Strategy and contribute towards achieving its

objectives.

4. To maintain effective communication.

5. To participate in Clinical Supervision as appropriate and to teach and act as a

facilitator/mentor/preceptor/ role model to less experienced staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Observing and recording patients’ behavior and vital signs.

2. Coordinating with physicians and other healthcare professionals for creating and evaluating customized care plans.

3. Create harmonious environment in order to provide emotional and psychological support to the patients and their families.

4. Diagnosing the disease by analyzing patient’s symptoms and taking required actions for his/her recovery using nursing care plan.

5. Maintaining reports of patients’ medical histories, and monitoring changes in their condition.

6. Carrying out the requisite treatments and medications.

7. Checking the stock on a regular basis for maintaining the inventory level, and placing orders if required.

8. Adhering with the protocols, norms, rules and regulations in order to maintain complete medical records.

9. Maintaining hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with the healthcare procedures.

10.Providing instant care during medical emergencies, like car accidents, burns, heart attacks and strokes.

11.Providing necessary guidance on health maintenance and disease prevention.

12.Keeping an eye on each and every aspect of patient care that includes physical activity plus proper diet.

13.Preparing rooms, and decontaminating equipment’s and instruments.

14.Preparing patients for examinations.

15.Assisting patient in the doctor’s clinic in the outpatient department.

16.Perform nursing procedure within the scope of services in the in-patient & outpatient department i.e IV cannulation, wound dressing, medication administration, IV fluid therapy, Female Urinary Catheterization, ECG taking, assisting the doctor in a particular procedure.

17.Educating patients and their families about the disease, medication and its treatment.

18.Serve as an advocate to patients and family regarding their rights and responsibilities while in the hospital.

19.Interacting with the healthcare teams for maintaining harmonious relationships.

20.Attending educational workshops for enhancing professional and technical knowledge.

21.Performing lab work and giving complete information to the physician about patient’s condition
