JOB SUMMARY:

Provides professional expertise in evaluating the use of medical care services, procedures, and delivery system by screening cases admitted to the hospital against intensity of service, severity of illness and discharge criteria to assure the appropriate, cost effective use of hospital resources.
Clinical auditor performs audits on medical records contained in SGH Dubai, in order to review data and ensure the accuracy of the record as well as, assess the quality of patient care.
Clinical auditor often coordinates in-service meetings to educate the medical staff on proper documentation procedures.
Performs quality improvement activities to enhance delivery of quality services rendered by the Medical and Clinical Service Personnel.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Standards-based audit – A cycle which involves defining standards, collecting data to measure current practice against those standards, and implementing any changes deemed necessary.
Adverse occurrence screening and critical incident monitoring – Review of cases which have caused concern or from which there was an unexpected outcome. Coordinate with the mortality and morbidity committee
Surgical audit – Data collection of all surgical cases, followed by ongoing review and assessment of performance and outcomes.
Complies with the set of policies and practices according to JCI and monitors safe clinical practice.
Handles all matters within established guidelines, keeping his/her department head (QPS Manager) informed of problems encountered and actions taken.
Audits medical records to ensure that documentation is complete, consistent, accurate and timely according to clinical protocols.
Assumes role of clinical resource when questions arise in the field.
Analyzes documentation completion data and submits recommendations to improve quality.
Identifies opportunities for Healthcare Professionals.
Develop, document and train on audit protocols based on clinical findings; this includes but is not limited to documenting the audit process; establishing performance thresholds; developing and updating tools.
Participates in organizational meetings providing details specific to audit activity and outcomes.
