Job Purpose
Taking an enterprise wide view of the business and applying business acumen, provide business analysis and process mapping expertise to identify business requirements and define/investigate IT solutions that can support achievement of business objectives and all business change initiatives in the organisation.
Key Result Areas
Develop an understanding of each function of the business that includes drivers, strategies, business models, core work processes and information flows, to provide sufficient context for the elicitation of business requirements.
Working closely with business and IT subject matter experts, and other business stakeholders, perform business requirements analysis through multiple iterations, to prepare comprehensive business requirements documents.
Identify, analyse, and document changes required to meet the business needs by consideration of organisation structure, business functions, information, and document flows, required knowledge and skills, processes and technology, to ensure successful delivery of system development and implementation projects.
Perform business analysis tasks on the most complex projects, collaborate with stakeholders to explore all possible solution angles through feasibility studies, demonstrate how proposed solutions are aligned to business goals and objectives, and define the impacts and risks, including organisational readiness for the change.
Assist portfolio management in defining portfolio/project scope, resource demand, benefits and risks during the discovery phase and assist discovery efforts to enable accurate capture of all interdependencies. Assist in the subsequent phases of the system development/implementation projects during detailed design, configuration, UX/UI, testing, until the successful completion.
Develop relevant artefacts including requirements specifications, solution options and recommendations, investment analysis, impact assessment and other technical advice and business cases, incorporating architectural recommendations where required.
Work with system analysts and other IT expert groups to ensure that envisioned system architectures meets the needs of the enterprise. Make connections with other initiatives in place, underway or planned across other lines of business that need to be considered.
Recommend and participate in the design and implementation of standards, tools and methodologies, share best practice, lessons learned and constantly update understanding based on changing technologies, practice, and knowledge.
Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, in order to support achievement of planned outcomes. Actively identify innovation initiatives supporting business goals and ensure the business is aware of emerging trends, practices, and technologies in the marketplace and how they may contribute to business outcomes and strategies.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years of IT experience, preferably in Oil & Gas or similar critical infrastructure process industry, out of which at least 5 years in a senior business analyst role covering multiple business domains, process areas, systems, and applications.
Excellent knowledge and work experience with Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, Elicitation, Requirements Management and Communication, Enterprise Analysis, Requirements Analysis, Solution Assessment and Validation.
Good understanding and practice of business process architecture, process and information
and process design, full system implementation lifecycle management and software development best practices.
Ability to follow processes and prepare documentation.
Good understanding and practice of project management principles and tools, ITIL or similar service management methodologies.
Good written and spoken communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good team-player, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.
