We are looking for an experienced Circular Economy Project Manager to join Group Sustainability and Government Affairs in this newly established role.
Turning ambition into action
You will be the lead on circularity at Hempel and a key player in implementing Hempel’s new sustainability framework Futureproof.
You will be responsible for creating an ambitious and comprehensive circularity roadmap for our packaging and products to be launched in 2022. The roadmap should outline ways to embed circularity measures into the coatings we produce, the services we offer and the packaging we use with the purpose of moving from a linear to a circular way of operating, improving resource efficiency and reducing waste – both within Hempel and on behalf of our customers.
As a part of creating and implementing the roadmap, your responsibilities will include:
Establishing and leading a cross-functional task force of experts from across the organisation (R&D and Innovation, Commercial, Supply Chain and others)
Identifying and fostering relationships with relevant collaboration partners within Hempel’s value chain and beyond (e.g. suppliers, customers and expert organisations within circularity)
Staying abreast on latest circularity trends and acting as a trusted circularity advisor and facilitator across the company
After 2022, the Project Manager will continue to act as the lead on circularity and support the organization with implementing the roadmap, as well as identifying new areas for further circularity, e.g. operational improvements or new business models and innovation opportunities.

Your role is global and so are we. You will be joining a dedicated team of sustainability experts in Group Sustainability & Government Affairs. You can be based in Hempel’s headquarters in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark or any of any of our regional offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Barcelona, Dallas (TX) or Bahrain.
As a part of Group Sustainability & Government Affairs, you will also be contributing to the overall development and execution of Hempel’s sustainability framwork Futureproof and play a key role in putting sustainability at the heart of how we do business.
We are looking for someone with solid circularity experience in a business setting
Our ideal candidate has a background in embedding circularity into a business similar to our ours.We expect you to have:
An ability to see opportunities where others see challenges
At least 5 years experience of developing and implementing strategic circularity initiatives in a complex commercial setting
Outstanding collaboration and change management skills
Significant project management experience
Excellent communication skills in English (verbal, written and interpersonal)
Masters degree in Engineering, Circular Economy, Business, Sustainability or similar
Experience from coating and/or chemical industry is considered a merit, but not a must
