Lawrie Shabibi is looking to hire a Gallery Director for its gallery located in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue. The candidate should be enthusiastic, presentable and have a positive attitude with excellent social and networking skills. At least 5 years’ experience working with a gallery, auction house or commercial art institution is required.
The Gallery Director would report to the Co-founders of the gallery (Asmaa and William) and manage other members of the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Build and grow relationships with museum curators, institutional collectors and private collectors.
o Cultivate new collectors.
o Develop an in-depth knowledge of gallery artists’ practices and biographies.
o Manage artists when they are in Dubai or at other events.
o Work closely with artists and other members of the team on the production of artworks.
o Write press releases and any other written materials such as wall text, catalogues etc.
o Produce presentations.
o Write and propose ideas for Art Fairs and manage their applications.
o Work independently on sales and outreach.
o Work with and communicate with the Directors, Exhibitions Director, Marketing manager and Registrar to ensure day to day operations are in sync.
o Attend gallery openings, dinners, and other events locally and internationally.
o Contribute to exhibition ideas, art fair ideas and introduce new artists to the gallery.

o Ability to research potential clients and to outreach.
o Ability to manage members of the team.
o Ability to communicate well and negotiate with clients.
o Genuine interest in art, artists and the art world.
o Able to write well with an exceptional attention to detail.
o Able to ensure the brand and reputation of the gallery is upheld to the highest standards.
o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
OTHER SKILLS:
o Driving license valid in UAE.
